An afternoon making Valentine cards

Last Sunday, I spent the afternoon with a wonderfully talented 9 year old girl and we made Valentine cards together for her classmates. It's so rewarding to work with kids and to see their imagination and creativity blossoming. She and I made a bevy (that's 26 in Canada...) of cards, each one unique and expressive, for each of her classmates, teachers and teacher assistants.

We had great fun and she is so pleased to have spent the afternoon crafting. This girl is all about crafts and science. An unlikely marriage perhaps but it's what seems to light her fire.

More Grunge Love

Everybody needs a bit of grungy love. This card is made with my favourite grungy aged papers, stamped in red with LOVE, has a great LOVE metal brad and shows a dictionary definition of "together" at the bottom. Card is blank inside.

Bear Hug

I know I have many favourites but I am really very partial to this card. It is made with a gorgeous grungy, aged paper and has die-cut corners, 3 tied-on accent ribbons and a sentiment which says "Always and Forever" and another sentiment from Virgil which reads "Now I know what Love is". Beautiful Dream

This is a soft-looking, dreamy card made from my beautiful collection of aged papers. The card is accented by 2 cream heart brads, die-cut rounded corners, a pink organza ribbon and the sentiment from William Sharpe which reads "Love is a beautiful dream". Card is blank inside.

True Love Begins

This card is one of my favourites. I love the rich chocolate and aqua retro-style papers. The criss-cross accent ribbon sets off the pattern beautifully and the sentiment from Antoine de Saint-Exupéry reads "True Love begins when nothing is looked for in return". Card is blank inside.

I love non-traditional love cards. This one is made from pretty blue and taupe papers that look so much like fabric.
